Eden Prairie Football Association Night at the Vikings!
Eden Prairie Football Association Night at the Vikings!
Football season is upon us!! Our organization has been provided a great opportunity for a fun day at a couple of Minnesota Vikings pre-season games, with the Vikings playing the Oakland Raiders at 7pm on Friday, August 8 and the Arizona Cardinals at 7:30pm on Saturday, August 16 at TCF Bank Stadium. We and our EPFA members will benefit in a few ways:
Upper-level tickets are being offered here for only $25 (upper level corner/end zone), at a savings of up to $55 per ticket!
Our EPFA association will receive a portion of each ticket sold from the Vikings for each of these tickets sold. This will help us to keep our equipment in even better condition and to assist us in keeping our registration fees some of the lowest in the area
Simply a fun time to go to a Vikings game, see some exciting new and dynamic returning players, with tailgating possibilities, and a chance to join our families and friends at a low-cost Vikings event
You can order tickets online. Note that seats will only be assured to be placed together within a given order:
Click here to order online. Select Find Tickets, enter the Special Offer Code "EPFA", go to Create an Account (unless you already have one there) on the right hand of the screen using your email address, and take it from there!
Deadline to order for the Aug 8 game vs. Oakland is Friday, Aug 1 at 5pm
Deadline to order for the Aug 16 game vs. Arizona is Friday, Aug 8 at 5pm
This is a first-come, first-served opportunity, as quantities are limited, and should be a lot of fun as we march forward on both the Eden Prairie Eagles' and the Minnesota Vikings' seasons. Please feel free to forward this notice to family and friends, though they will need to use this form in order to take advantage of this great deal.
Questions on this can be directed to us at
, though you should know that all of the order processing is being handled by the Vikings office, not the EPFA. See ya on the gridiron!

Registration for Mike Grant Summer Football Camps Available!!
Registration now open Mike Grant Summer Football Camps, Coaching/Volunteer and Donation Opportunities!
WHAT?!! But there is still snow on the ground and the Spring sports haven't even started yet! Well, families are already asking for the Summer camps and are planning out their Summer schedules, and it sneaks up on us, so here ya go!
It is with pride that we are able to share with you this not-quite-news, that our EPHS Head Coach, Mike Grant, has been named National High School Coach of the Year. That shouldn't be surprising to us. Flying to New York to receive the honor, Coach Grant shares the following directed to our EP football family:
"I wanted to express my gratitude to all of you for all you have done to make this honor possible. I am not real comfortable in receiving this award but I am humbled in the fact that without our coaches, players and parents I would not be in New York today. Our whole football family is really being acknowledged by this honor. The hard work and dedication of so many is represented by the National Football League honoring our program in this way.
Thanks to all of you, both past and present, for making Eden Prairie Football a nationally recognized program. The tradition of excellence is reflected in our record on the field but more importantly by the great young men that have come through our program and represent our community every day."
EP High School Varsity Eagles win 28-7 and capture 9th State Championship
... for a 3-PEAT!!
As if you hadn't already heard.....
The undefeated 12-0 Eden Prairie Eagles dominated a very good Rosemount North team 28-7 for their 9th State Championship, and the first time that a Minnesota big school has ever done a 3-peat! This team has moved up significantly in the national rankings to #22 nationally, and the only school in the entire Midwest to be included in the top 25! Not too shabby. 12 of these players were also selected as All-Conference or All-Conference Honorable Mention -- well-deserved.
The 2013 Eagles' continuous improvement all season resulting in a championship may be remembered as some of Coach Grant and his staff's finest work, and this team will always be a testament to the power of unity, heart and character.
The coaches and players went in to the game believing with all of their hearts that they would win this game and they would not be denied! The Eagles proved to the world that they have the hearts of champions. All of the years of coaching and hard work resulted in a 9th State Championship for the Eden Prairie Eagles. Most of these boys have dreamed of this moment since 3rd grade, and these dreams came true in the HHH Metrodome on November 29, 2013.
Registration for our EPFA Fall season is going quite well, and we are actually seeing a nice upswing in our younger grades, stability in our older grades, and a return of many players who had previously stayed out for a season. We don’t want anybody to miss out on this message or on the season, so please forward this note on to your list of friends who might benefit from the message below. Your player's experience will not be as rich without their friends in the league with them!
But we do recognize that there may be hesitation by some parents who have considered registering their child for youth football (or for any active youth sport for that matter!).This hesitation may be spurred by concern over injuries and/or over the extensive hype of recent media coverage. We get it and we respect that concern.
While it has already been shown that youth football is actually safer than many (and possibly most) other common active youth sports (yes, we know that sounds ironic!), your Eden Prairie Football Board has taken its safety awareness and prevention to another level with the following steps:
·We continue to purchase and upgrade state-of-the-art equipment (helmets, pads, etc.) for our players
·We are providing increased multi-session coaching education and training
·We require all of our coaches to participate in concussion awareness certification
·We have hired professional EMTs to be present and equipped at each of our games (To be honest, though, they typically and fortunately walk away at the end of the game rather bored professionally, though having seen a fun game of football!)
·We pull together for a mid-season formal assessment of season issues and adjustments needed for practice and game techniques
·And finally and perhaps foremost, we are very proud and excited to announce that we have recently been selected as one of only 2 Minnesota youth programs as a pilot partner with USA Football and in its new “Heads Up” program:
oIn addition to the above steps, our head and assistant coaches will be required to complete an online certification course and will be trained in Heads Up football techniques before leading their teams this season
oWe have engaged a “Player Safety Coach”, being trained by USA Football, whose role it is to implement, evaluate and monitor all safety protocols within the EPFA.He will work with the commissioners, coaches, parents and players throughout the season to provide on-site clinics and mentoring to ensure that player safety best practices are used
No, we can’t bubble-wrap our kids everywhere they go.But we do want them to be active, to have some good conditioning, to have fun, to even get a little dirty, and to be as safe as possible while “mixing it up”.We might as well have them join an organization like the EPFA that is working very hard to promote that safety! To do so, please go to our website at http://www.edenprairiefootball.com and click on “Register Online” before the late fee kicks in on June 14!
There has been no better time to play youth football than now.
